June 5, 2017 – Ottawa – The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS) is pleased to announce that Adrienne McBride is the newest member of the CFHS Board of Directors, adding her expertise and insight to Canada's national voice for animal welfare.
Adrienne comes to the CFHS Board with an extensive legal background and a passion for animals, which led her to a career path in animal welfare and sheltering.
Adrienne received her Honours degree in Media Studies and a diploma in Journalism through the University of Guelph-Humber, graduating with distinction before pursuing her Bachelors of Law degree from the University of Ottawa in 2010. Adrienne was called to the Ontario Bar in 2011.
As the Executive Director of the Guelph Humane Society (GHS), Adrienne brings a deep understanding of the not-for-profit sector and community partnerships to the CFHS Board of Directors, earned through internships with the Ontario Racing Commission and CFHS, as well as her extensive volunteer experiences with animal rescue groups.
Adrienne joined GHS during a transitional phase – a time when employee morale was low and shelter productivity was down. Her leadership was crucial to the shelter’s continued success, allowing GHS an opportunity to build a better, brighter future for both the staff and the animals in their care.
The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies is proud to welcome this inspiring, dedicated figure to our Board of Directors, and we look forward to her contributions.
